The main purpose of our research group is to investigate the effects of the visual-gesture modality in the syntax of Russian Sign Language (RSL). By using both corpus methods and elicitation we aim at describing a structure of the nominal domain, analyzing the usage of non-manual markers for marking interrogatives and negation, describing possessive constructions in compatison with existentials, and implement an instrument for an automatic annotation of RSL speech.
